Error 1: Sophos Home can only be installed when the computer is restarted.
If restarting the computer didn’t help, reinstalling will still give the same error. You can correct the error as follows.
Option 1: Make sure you have updated Windows and try reinstalling it. If this does not work, try option 2.
Option 2: Check the register.
When editing the registry, you need to be careful. If you cannot find the flags as shown below, you can run option 3.
In the Windows search box, type regedit and press Enter.
Follow the path below:
32-bit : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareSophosAutoUpdateStatusVolatileFlags
64-bit : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareWow6432NodeSophosAutoUpdateStatusVolatileFlags.
Click RebootRequired and change the data value to 0 if it is 1 and click Ok.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > Session Manager.
Rename the PendingFileRenameOperations entry to OldPendingFileRenameOperations.
Delete the contents of the %windir%Temp folder (usually C:Windowstemp).
Reinstall Sophos Home.

Option 3: Remove the old Sophos Home.
If you can’t find the flags in the registry and still get an error message when reinstalling, it may be due to left behind Sophos home installation files or a previously uninstalled version of the Sophos software. You need to delete these files.
Only one anti-virus program should be used on the computer to avoid software conflicts.

Click on the Load Troubleshooter button.
Start the program. You can first select Install to try to reinstall the program, but if that doesn’t work, you should select Uninstall to cleanly remove the program and reinstall it from scratch.
The program will then show you a list of the applications installed on your computer. Select Sophos Home, Sophos Antivirus, or another antivirus program that you no longer use, and click Next to remove them.
Restart the computer and reinstall it.
Error 2: Unknown software exception (0x40000015).
This error occurs when you cannot connect to the Sophos Home interface on the computer, even though Sophos Home is installed on the device, as shown below.
This error often occurs when installing on Windows 7 due to an outdated update.
