The biggest and first red flag you should note off a coach is the way that they communicate – especially if it’s in a negative fashion. Take note of these warning signs:

These actions create an atmosphere that is hostile and uncomfortable for the client. This can hinder the growth of the client and their self-esteem and, of course, the coach’s business itself by damaging professional relationships and declining retention and referrals.Â
Lack of Professionalism
Another glaring red flag you might want to watch out for is the lack of boundaries. If you ever know about your coach’s personal life or breakups or even have played tongits online with them, then consider it a sign to set boundaries.Â
Boundaries aid you in separating the private aspect from the professional aone. It’s good if you and your coach get along, but we recommend setting distance between the two of you so that things won’t be messy.

You may also want to avoid mind games, especially since these will not make you feel comfortable. For some coaches, mind games are in the form of physical punishment and playing around. For others, it’s being called out for small things!
