As you may be aware, many of the websites we use frequently such as Facebook, Twitter and Gmail have a “Fix” button, and when pressed, an error will pop up to show the user how to correct the problem. At JotForm, we hope to implement this “Fix” button to make our users’ lives easier by easily fixing common errors.

In this age of technology, it’s so easy to forget to turn off your laptop, smartphone, or other device. But when you do, it can cause a lot of problems. Think about how many times you’ve accidentally left your computer or phone on when you were away from it. As the device continues to run, it has a chance to use up your battery life, and when it’s used up, it can cause the device to overheat, which can cause it to break or even catch fire.

This is a busy week at the Alternativeway Blog, as we’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of the web portal’s inception this week, and we’re just a day into the new year. We’re still updating the site, but we have a few posts lined up for this week. We have some more links of interest on the front page, and we’re planning a special post tomorrow. As for today, well… let’s just say we got a bit ahead of ourselves.

It’s now easier than ever to share images through third-party and independent platforms. It should be, at the very least. When trying to share a photo using the Photos app, some iPhone users receive the message There was a problem while preparing to share. If you’re one of them, take a look at the options we’ve provided below.

  1. Restarting the computer
  2. Look for any issues with your connection.
  3. Make sure you have enough storage space.
  4. iCloud photos that are troublesome can be downloaded.
  5. Resetting the Network Configuration
  6. Update for iOS
  7. Photos can be uploaded to a PC or a Mac.

Why am I unable to share photos from my iPhone?

1. Restart the computer.

The first step is to turn the device on again. The simplest answer isn’t always the best, so you might have to deal with a temporary system shutdown. Turning off your iPhone or iPad is the best approach to remedy this problem.

However, if the problem remains, proceed to the next step.

2. Look for issues with your internet connection.

Make sure you’re connected to a stable Wi-Fi or mobile (cellular) data network, regardless of how you share photographs with your iPhone. You can reconnect after disconnecting or forgetting the current network.

In addition, if you want to share photographs from the Photos app via mobile data (3G/4G/LTE/5G), make sure the app has authorization to do so. Unless the photographs you wish to share are saved locally, you’ll need to upload iCloud photos first, as explained above. To allow the Photos app to access cellular data, follow these steps:

  1. Open the options menu.
  2. Select the Photo option.
  3. Cellular Data should be pressed.
  4. Turn on the cellular data.

Continue to the next step if the Preparing for exchange error notice comes again.

3. Double-check that you have enough RAM.

All photos must be downloaded to your smartphone before downloading from the cloud if you don’t transfer the link from iCloud. For users with little memory, this can be a problem.

As a result, make sure you have enough RAM before you begin. Here are some suggestions for freeing up space on your iPhone for new data:

  • Delete all of your iCloud photographs and videos.
  • Use optimized photos when uploading from iCloud. Go to Settings > Photos and choose Optimize iPhone Storage instead of Load and Save Originals.

  • Delete unused apps in Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
  • Sync media files between a PC and a Mac.
  • Uninstall any programs you aren’t using.

4. iCloud photo downloads that are problematic

Some users have discovered a workaround that is a little inconvenient but effective. They used a browser on their PC to get into iCloud and send photos via email. This can be particularly challenging if you want to share a huge number of photographs or movies. Not to mention the fact that compression might degrade photo quality.

This activity should not persist long, as it is said to only happen with specific photos. This is what you must do:

  1. On your PC or Mac, open a web browser.
  2. Go to to get started.
  3. When prompted, sign in with your AppleID credentials and validate the connection on a trusted Apple device.
  4. Open the images.
  5. Choose the photos you’d like to receive on your smartphone and email them to yourself.
  6. Open the email on your iPhone or iPad and download the photographs.

It’s also simple to download to your PC/Mac and then transfer to your iPhone. Whatever you believe is the most straightforward.

If you don’t want to try this solution and the Ready to Share error notice is preventing you from sharing photos, continue to the next step.

5. Changing the network settings

Many people are now advocating that the problem be resolved by resetting the network settings to their default values. You can give it a try, as many others have, and see for yourself. Naturally, this returns all network settings to their default settings. All of your Bluetooth and Wi-Fi pairing data will be lost as a result.

Learn how to reset the network settings on your iPhone:

  1. Open the options menu.
  2. Press the General button.
  3. At the bottom of the list, select Reset.
  4. Reset the network settings by pressing the Reset Network Settings button.

  1. Confirm your PIN/password by typing it in again.

6. Update your iOS device

Another significant consideration is to maintain the device current. On the latest version of iOS, all of Apple’s services perform better (at least, that’s what we’ve seen). As a result, ensure sure your iPhone is running the most recent version of iOS. This tip should be kept in mind for future troubleshooting. If you call Apple support, they will make the same recommendation.

To manually check for updates on your iPhone, follow the instructions below:

  1. Open the options menu.
  2. Select the General option.
  3. Update the software with a touch.
  4. All available updates should be downloaded and installed.

7. Getting photos onto a PC or Mac

Finally, using the iCloud web client, you can quickly move all of your images from your iPhone/iPad to your PC/Mac or download them directly to your PC. There are a variety of sharing methods from there, albeit you can’t send them via iMessage or AirDrop.

You’ll need to transfer them back to your iPhone to accomplish this. It’s particularly aggravating when there are a lot of photographs to choose from and you have to do it manually.

That is all there is to it. Thank you for reading, and please do not hesitate to email us your comments, suggestions, or questions. In the comments section below, tell us what’s bothering you.

Unlike the other posts in this series, Fix: There was an error while preparing to share is not about a particular technology or device. Instead, it is about the root of the problem—the technology industry. The reason for this is that while people love technology and use it every day, a lot of people believe that it is a big scam. They think that it is run by a bunch of evil corporations and there is little to no concern for the impact on the people or the environment..
