Tiny chips have been around for a while now, called Nand Flash. These are tiny chips that can be used in smartphones and game consoles to store data. But now small chips are being used in a variety of more practical ways. A new type of NAND Flash called eMMC is the primary storage of the new Android Nougat system on the Pixel phone. The eMMC is a version of the older NAND Flash, but instead of storing data as a long string of zeros and ones, it stores the data in a much simpler format called compressed eMMC. The eMMC is easier to use and perhaps more efficient than the older NAND Flash, but does have disadvantages.

While virtual reality is still in its infancy, it is starting to become a more mainstream item. The technology has been used in horror films, computer games and films, and even in some television advertisements. While these uses may not have a direct link to the gaming world, the impact of VR technology on gaming will be profound.

Windows has always had a plethora of features for its users to enjoy. Not all of these characteristics, however, are usually beneficial. There are a plethora of Windows functions that a significant portion of the userbase is unaware of.

In this post, we’ll look at Enhanced Pointer Precision, a mouse function in Windows, and see whether it’s suitable for gaming.

The mouse is a cute little creature. DPI is an important factor in determining how far the computer should move the mouse based on how far you physically move it. With the same physical movement, the greater the DPI, the further your mouse will travel on-screen.

Enhance Pointer Precision is a Windows option that influences the acceleration of your mouse. When you activate this option, Windows will continuously monitor how quickly you move your mouse and change your mouse’s DPI appropriately.

The mouse will be set to a higher DPI if you move it quicker, which means it will cover more screen distance. On the other hand, if you move the mouse slowly, the DPI will be reduced, meaning the mouse will travel less.

As you would expect, since the translation of physical movement to on-screen movement isn’t linear, the setting won’t help you while you’re gaming, particularly if you already have a gaming mouse that can go fairly high in terms of DPI.

With the functionality enabled, you won’t be able to develop the muscle memory needed to play competitive FPS games since the mouse will constantly move differently than your hand. This may cause minor input latency in mouse movement, which is a no-no while playing FPS games.

With the function turned off, all that counts is how you move your mouse. When you turn it on, though, movement speed is factored in, making split-second choices more difficult.

So, if the feature is so bad, why does it exist in the first place, and why is it turned on by default in Windows?

Because it enhances mouse performance for many individuals, the answer to this issue is fairly clear. Although hardly everyone uses a $50 or more gaming mouse, many individuals do utilize low-cost mice with low DPI sensors.

While this option is selected, Windows guarantees that users using low-DPI or inexpensive mouse don’t run out of desk space when moving their pointer from one end of the screen to the other.
