Even though it is not as ordinary as it was seven years ago, for example, the memory can and will fill up over time. If you do not consider other solutions, all these images, music files and 4K videos will run out of memory until you see a message stating that updates cannot be installed due to insufficient memory. Fortunately, there are space-saving options in Android 11, which you can find below.

How to increase the storage capacity of your Android device

1. Data backup in Cloud Services

Although many reviewers and users have expressed concerns about the capacity of some devices, we ask for some insight. Of course, if you need to store large videos and thousands of images on your device, you’ll need 128 GB or more.

But for the average user, 64GB or even 32GB of internal storage is more than comfortable. Especially considering the fact that people rarely stay with a device for more than five years, often less. http://server.digimetriq.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/How-to-save-storage-space-on-Android-11.png

And the answer lies in the cloud services. Although Google has recently decided to monetize Google Photos and the quota is starting to count down (the free 15 GB per account is still in effect), you’ll still have trouble filling that 15 GB lately. For $2 a month you get 100 GB, which is huge when it comes to videos and photos.

But let’s stop giving Google free advertising and remember that there are many other options. Whatever service you use, you can always view, upload, edit and download your photos and videos. Or save them to your computer.

Similarly, you can use Google Drive to back up all your other important files. This allows you to back up photos, videos and other media files. Unless you have a local library of 10,000 songs, it doesn’t matter if you use 32 or 128 GB of storage. At least not that much.

Here are the most common files and how to copy them:

  • Photos and videos – Google Photos, Dropbox, OneDrive, Mega all offer photo and video backups. Check out the free and paid plans, install the application of your choice and start downloading.
  • Music – Google has fired Google Play Music, which used to offer a music locker, so it’s no longer an option. However, you can use music from YouTube, which has been replaced by GPM. Although the application is not as functional as the classic Google Play Music, it still has a music box.

The rest can be sent on disk or on one of the cloud services mentioned above. Or back up your computer and make room for new hardware.

2. Delete cached files and unwanted files

The Facebook application and its siblings are the usual suspects here. If you haven’t looked at some social media applications on your device lately, they tend to store tons of cached files.

The idea is to speed up the loading times by saving the homepage and recent actions locally. But first of all, it is not as useful as we are led to believe, and secondly, it takes up a lot of space in your storage space.

The application, which is about 80 MB in size, will grow over time and, if left unattended, to hundreds of megabytes. Go to Settings > Applications and sort by size. The largest should be removed from the cache as soon as possible.

Here is how to do this easily on Android 11 :

  1. Open the settings.
  2. Select Applications and Communications.
  3. Widen all requests.
  4. Find all the important applications in the list and open them one by one.
  5. Ergot memory.
  6. Empty the cache. http://server.digimetriq.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/1609167194_839_How-to-save-storage-space-on-Android-11.png

You can also delete the data, but please note that this may include some media downloaded with these applications and you may need to log in again (if necessary).

You can also install files from Google or another advanced file manager from the Play Store and clean up unwanted files. Moreover, these applications usually provide double deletion and monitor large files that you might want to delete.

3. Delete unused requests

It’s a big problem. Since some applications tend to collect cache and take up memory, we as end users tend to install so many applications that we don’t really use them. Especially games that tend to be larger than your usual application.

So go back to the list of installed applications or just go to the application tray and search for applications that do not have a specific application. Remove it to save space on Android 11 (or any other Android).

Don’t forget that you can always reload the application if necessary. This minimalistic approach will certainly save you storage space.

4. Memory expansion with an SD card

Memory expansion with an SD card, such as the headphone jack, is obsolete nowadays. Many newer devices do not have the ability to expand the memory with an external drive. Unfortunately, this is another one of those market trends that favour something different from the good old devices we all love.

Which doesn’t mean your device doesn’t have it. If this is the case, an SD card must be purchased. They’re quite affordable these days, and you can get ridiculous amounts of storage. Even if you can’t install applications, you can at least store all your media files there.

Another important advantage of storing important data on an SD card is security. If a problem occurs with your device and you need to reset the device at the factory, you will not lose any files stored on the SD card.

5. Bleed the air from your unit

If there’s a way to deflate the device, and a safe way, you have to do it. With the exception of a few OEMs, most manufacturers have imposed a large number of applications on their users that they will never use. It is often quite difficult to get rid of them, because these pre-installed applications are system applications.

We have a detailed article about unlocking Xiaomi devices here, but you will find much more information on the XDA forums. Find your device and follow the instructions carefully. Also make sure you write everything down and stay away from certain basic applications of the system. Without all bloatware Android 11 will save you memory. http://server.digimetriq.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/1609167194_926_How-to-save-storage-space-on-Android-11.png
