There are many bugs in Windows 10 that can prevent you from logging into your local account. One is the user profile service that could not connect to Windows 10. This error can occur if the user’s profile is corrupt or if the user profile service cannot be started. It can sometimes be frustrating to see important files and documents stuck on your computer with no access to them.

The user profile service could not connect. The User Profile Cannot Load error message may also appear due to corrupted system or registry files, antivirus software, bad sectors on the hard drive, or problems with the Windows 10 update.

How to correct a user profile login error in Windows 10

You can easily solve the connection problem by following the solutions below. There is a certain requirement for logging into Windows. You can request a condition if your only account is locked. Make sure you followed all the steps correctly to unlock your account and get rid of the User Profile Service has not logged in. Error The user profile is not loaded in Windows 10.

Prerequisites – Switch to security mode and enable the hidden administrator account

You can restart the computer in secure mode and have the hidden administrator account make the following corrections. However, if you can log in with your existing administrator account, you can skip the condition and continue with the solutions.

Users can refer to the guide for entering Safe Mode in Windows 10 for options even if you are not logged in. Once you are in Safe Mode, locate the command line in the Start menu and select Run as Administrator.

In the command line terminal, type the following command and press Enter to run it.

Network administrator / active:yes

Activating the built-in administrator account 2 Activating the hidden administrator account

Now start Windows normally and log in as a hidden administrator. Make sure you deactivate the administrator account after logging in with your local account.

Pay attention: The command to disable the hidden administrator account is listed at the end of this guide.

1. Restart PC

If the problem is caused by a temporary error, a quick reboot may solve the problem. And if you’re lucky, no more errors will occur when you reboot your system.

After opening the administrator mode, click the Windows icon and then click the power button. Click the Restart button to restart the computer.

Restart the system 5 Restart the PC

After restarting your computer, try logging back into the locked account and see if you can do so without any problems.

2. Update the Windows 10 operating system

In case of a problem with the Windows update, you can update it again using the hidden administrator account.

Press the Windows + I key to open the Windows Settings application and go to Updates and Security. In the left pane, go to Windows Update and click Check for Updates.

Checking for updates in Windows 10 4 Click Check for updates.

Now download and install the updates; this may take some time depending on the size of the update. Restart the computer, run the update, and verify that you can log in to your local account without the user profile service not being able to log in to Windows 10.

3. Change the start type of the user profile service

If you have problems with the User Profile service, you cannot log in to your account and experience errors with the Windows 10 service. To fix this, you can change the startup type of the user profile service and make sure it works.

Press Windows + R to run the application and type services.msc.

Services opened on Race 4

Legend : Open application services

In the Services application, locate the User Profile service and double-click it to open its properties. Now select Automatic for the startup type on the General tab. Click Apply and OK to save.

Change the start type of the user profile service Change the start type to automatic

If the user profile service is not active, click the Start button in the properties window to start it. You can then restart the computer and check for connection errors.

4. Execution of SFC command

Corrected system files can also prevent the User Profile Service from logging in to Windows 10. You can check and repair damaged system files by using System File Checker (SFC) utility.

Open a command prompt with administrator privileges and run the command sfc /scannow. You can read the full sfc / scannow manual to know more about the process and this utility in detail.

When this utility repairs the corrupted files, you can reconnect to your local account.

5. Using the DISMUtility

If the SFC scan did not repair the damaged system files, you can try using the Deployment Image & Servicing Management Scan (DISM) utility. This can also be done by simply running a single command in the command line terminal.

Enter a command in the Start menu and right-click to open it as administrator. In the terminal, type the following command and press Enter.

DISM /Online / Clean image / Restore status

Disassembly task 2 Execution of the disassembly task

You can try to reconnect to the blocked account to see if you can do so without any problems.

6. Copy the default folder from another Windows computer 10

You can copy the default folder from another Windows 10 PC with the same version and operating system.

To check the version, right-click on this computer and select Properties. You can find the necessary information in the Windows specifications section.

Window specifications

Once you have found a match, follow the instructions below on the other computer.

Navigate to the C:Users folder and click on the View tab on the menu bar. Select the check box next to Hidden Items to see the default folder.

Show hidden items in user folder

Once the default folder is visible, right click on it and copy and paste it to the USB drive.

Copy and paste the default folder to the USB drive.

Now go back to the affected computer and rename the Default folder to Default.old. You can then connect a USB stick and copy the Default folder from there to the C:Users folder of the PC in question.

Then restart the computer and check if you have discarded the user profile service from an unauthorized connection in Windows 10.

7. Control of plate defects

Errors and bad disk sectors may prevent you from logging in with your local account. You can use the chkdsk command to check the hard drive for errors and correct them.

Make sure you have no open applications or unsaved files before trying this command. The command restarts the computer to check the system hard disk for errors.

Open a command prompt with administrator privileges, as described above, and run that command.

chkdsk c: /f/r

You can replace the alphabet C with the letter of your system disk. After checking for errors and rebooting the system, check if you can log into your local account.

8. Change of registration

You can modify the registry to fix the error that connects the user profile service in Windows 10. It takes a long time to change the record, but you should be able to reconnect without an error message.

Step one: Open it and type regedit. Press the Enter key to open the registry editor.

Step two: In the Registry Editor window, navigate to the following path.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARmicrosoftWindows NTC CurrentVersionProfileList

Step three: Now locate the registry keys with the prefix S-1-5 in the ProfileList folder and open each key to find the key associated with the locked profile.

To check which register belongs to the profile of the user causing the error, check the Data field in ProfileImagePath. You will find the name of the account.

Profile name Account name in ProfileImagePath data field

If you have two S-1-5 registers with the same suffix line and the same ProfileImagePath, follow these steps. However, if there is only one folder with your ProfileImage path, you can go directly to step 5.

Step four: One file has a .bak and the other does not. The .bak folder is a backup folder that can be used if the original is damaged.

Rename the .bak folder by removing the .bak at the end. Now another folder that didn’t have a .bak extension is renamed at the end by adding a .bak.

Simply put, you switched the names of the two folders.

Step Five: Open the folder with the specified criteria. When you rename a folder, open the folder without the .bak extension.

Step six: Double-click on State DWORD and change the value to 0. Press OK.

Define status data as 0 Define status data as 0

Step seven: If you have a DWORD RefCount in the same registry, change the value to 0 and click OK.

Many systems did not have a DWORD RefCount. So if you don’t have that Word, you can just skip this step.

Then restart your computer and try to log in to the blocked account again. You will probably get rid of the user profile service for users who have not logged in. Cannot load the user profile in Windows 10 on the login screen.

9. NTUSER.DATfile modification

If the NTUSER.DAT folder is damaged or corrupted, you may experience connection problems. You can solve this problem by replacing the NTUSER file.

Step one: Log in to the hidden administrator account and navigate to C:UsersDefault. If you don’t see the default folder here, make sure you enable hidden items as described in the solution above.

Step two: Now copy the NTUSER.DAT file and paste it somewhere else. Be careful not to put it in a user’s folder.

Copy the default folder 1 Copy the file NTUSER.DAT to another folder.

Step three: Navigate to C:UserPublic

Then copy and paste the folder NTUSER.DAT into the folder C:UsersDefault.

Restart the system and check that the user profile service that could not be accidentally logged into Windows 10 has disappeared.

10. Creating a New User Account

You can create a new user account and transfer all the data from the damaged user account to the new one. Make sure you are logged in with the hidden administrator account to create a new account.

You can easily create a new account by going to the ➜ Accounts settings and following the on-screen instructions. If you need help, follow the User Account Management Guide for Windows 10.

Then go to C:Users, copy all the necessary folders and documents from the damaged user profile and paste them under the newly created profile. You must do this with a hidden administrator account, otherwise permission issues may arise.

11. Delete the MIP and create a new account

Disclaimer : This solution carries certain risks and may cause problems for some users. Therefore, we recommend that you back up the registry and create a system restore point before making this correction.

You can delete the MIP and create a new user account. This can only work if you have multiple user profiles on your system.

Step one: Open the registry editor and go to –

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARmicrosoftWindows NTC CurrentVersionProfileList

Step two: Check the S-1-5 and ProfileImagePath keys in all S-1-5 folders to determine if a user profile is corrupt.

Step three: Once you find the profile, right click on the registry key and delete it.

Remove damaged MIP Remove damaged MIP

If there are two identical PIMs with and without the .bak extension, delete them sequentially.

Now create a new user account and access the work. For information on creating a new account, see solution #10.

12. Reset windows 10

You can reset Windows 10 without deleting any personal files and data. The installed software is removed, but personal files are not affected. The last option to fix the User Profile Service connection problem in Windows 10 is to reboot the PC.

For information on resetting Windows 10, see our guide. Make sure you select the option to save files when prompted when resetting. Then check if you can log into the account without any problems.

Disable hidden administrator accounts

When you are done, it is important to disable the hidden administrator account to prevent any threats to the system. You can log in under a different user account and open the command prompt as administrator. Run the following command in the command line terminal window.

User network administrator / active:no

Deactivating the administrator account 2 Deactivating the built-in administrator account

Then the system is rebooted; the deactivated account no longer appears on the login screen with the other user accounts.

Completion

You can prevent logging in by entering incorrect passwords and preventing certain Windows services from starting. One of the errors that can prevent a user account from logging in is the User Profile Service login error in Windows 10. The above list of solutions will help you to correct this error easily.

Although some solutions require technical knowledge, a reboot may solve the problem if it is caused by a minor technical error. The solution in question depends on why you are having this error on the login screen.
