Have you ever tried to add a new SmartThings device to your home automation system only to find you can’t connect the device to your Samsung SmartThings account? Perhaps you get an error message like this.

I have an issue with my Samsung Smart Tag (SMT-700) and I was wondering if anyone can help me fix it. The issue: For whatever reason, my Samsung Smart Tag (SMT-700) was not properly connecting to my Samsung SmartThings hub. My hub has since been replaced (by me the customer), and the issue is still present. I am nervous because I have two other smart devices (smart lock and ecobee3 thermostat) that are connected to my hub, and I was afraid that if I had to turn them both off, I would be without the use of the Smart Tag, or that it would become an issue that would prevent me from using the hub.

The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag or SmartTag+ (plus) Bluetooth tracker is a useful device if you are constantly losing things around the house. For example, finding your keys or wallet takes time. By attaching these objects to the Samsung SmartTag, you can locate them efficiently. Unfortunately, some users have reported that their Samsung SmartTag tracker is not working or connecting to the SmartThings app on their Galaxy phone. The application cannot detect the tracker and users see an error message: The connection to the SmartTag could not be established. There’s a problem with the Bluetooth information. Ask for help. Method– Clear the cache of the SmartThings app on your Samsung Galaxyphone.

  • Go to the Settings menu on your Samsung Galaxy device.
  • Go to Apps.
  • Choose SmartThings.
  • Stop the power to the valve.
  • Then go to the Memory section.
  • Press Clear Cache.
  • Choose Delete Data.

Method 2 – Removing the battery from the SmartTag

  • First remove the battery from the Samsung SmartTag.
  • Let it sit for a few minutes.
  • Now try reinserting the battery.

Method 3 – Reset Samsung SmartTag

  • Remove the battery from the Samsung SmartTag.
  • Find the button in the middle. Press and hold while inserting the battery. Note that the SmartTag may not generate any sound. If so, try again.
  • If you have succeeded, press and hold the button for five seconds.
  • Release the button and close the battery.

Method 4 – Reinstalling the SmartThings app

  • Find the SmartThings icon on the Home screen.
  • Press and hold to open the menu.
  • Choose Uninstall.

Method 5 – Update SmartThings application on Samsung Galaxyphone

  • Go to the Google Play Store.
  • Press the Menu icon.
  • Go to My apps and games.
  • Choose Updates.
  • Choose SmartThings.
  • Install the available update.

Method 6 – Send error report to Samsung

  • In the Smart Things application, press the Menu key.
  • Go to Contact.
  • Select Error Reports.
  • Select Smart Tag.
  • Select Contact.
  • Record the output of your smart label.
  • Find the Send system log files option and select the check box.
