This term refers to the number of items displayed in the mailing list. In Gmail, we have 3 types of density that adapt to the user’s preferences. To access the Density Setting section, click the cogwheel in the top right corner of the screen. At the top of the menu that appears, we find the section we need.
This is the default configuration that allows us to see a limited number of emails. For each item in the list we can see all its properties, e.g. B. If this email contains attachments, we can view and even download them without opening the message.
People who chose normal density can see almost as many items in their inbox as before, but the details of each item are no longer visible. This can definitely give your mailbox a cleaner look.
Compact density changes this by greatly increasing the number of emails that can be displayed on the screen. So it is an ideal option for those who want to quickly check all the information about their account.
The next element to take into account to customize the mailbox to our preferences is the background theme. To do this, first click on the configuration wheel in the top right corner of the screen. Since the second part of the drop-down menu will contain themes, we can see and select any of the suggested themes. You can also click Show All.
This action will show a floating window where you can choose from different types of themes with solid colors, landscape images and even animated themes.
We can find this item after entering the Gmail drop-down menu by clicking on the cogwheel. If you scroll down, you will find the Receive Types option, and you will immediately see that there are 6 of them.

The second option is a panel next to the mailing list. If you click on any of these items, we can see them in this area.
This option is similar to the previous one, it is designed to save space and time by allowing you to read your emails just below the message list.
If you enable the Group email messages by conversation option, you can see all the messages you have with a person or a group of people in chat style. This option is located at the bottom of the entire email settings drop-down menu. Just select it to activate it.
These are tabs on which messages are displayed. By default, 3 are visible, namely Main, Social Y Shares. To configure them, click on the configuration reducer, then go to Show all settings. Next, you need to go to the Receive tab and select the default type. We see 5 existing categories:
- Basically: includes all types of messages and conversations between contacts.
- Social: All emails related to your social networks will be displayed here.
- Promotions : In this section you will see all the promotions from the content providers and creators you are subscribed to.
- Notes: This list is very useful to display all types of alerts generated by invoices and bank account receipts.
- Forums : Finally, this section displays all messages sent in the major email groups you belong to.
You can choose which ones to display on the home screen and which ones not.
Tags are a more versatile way to catalog emails. We may have noted in the previous section that categories can be enabled or disabled but never created or modified, this is not the case for tags.
You can mark messages according to your preferences and then only see a list of these emails:
- In this case, you need to be in the inbox and select the emails individually with the checkbox.
- The top bar then displays several options, including tags.
- A small tab appears where we can create new labels using the Create New button.
- Enter a name and click Create.
- Now we can enter the mailing list in the left menu at any time with the label we just created.
- If you want to manage them, you need to click Show all settings in the right menu.
- Next we go to the ANDtickets tab. Below are the options to create, modify, delete and even hide labels depending on our needs.
